James Blake Teams Up With Chance the Rapper for "Life Round Here"
We didn't exactly see this collabo coming. James Blake is a British minimalist singer-songwriter. Chance the Rapper is a hip-hop artist from Chicago with a hyperactive flow. But their joint effort on "Life Round Here" somehow makes perfect sense.
The idea to team up happened, where else, at a music festival for indie artists. Chance told XXL, "I met James Blake at SXSW this year before my tape even dropped. He came to one of my shows and I freaked the f-ck out. I'm a huge James Blake fan. I don't even know if he knew I was a fan."
The two indie darlings worked on a couple versions of Blake's Overgrown track, and this is only the first take. "So to do another version of one of his songs that I felt was already completed was… you know… you don't wanna fuck somebody's sh-t up. I jumped on it and people seem to like it a lot." Expect to hear more from this odd couple in the coming months.
