Is Jack White Set to Drop Solo Album in 2014?
Could Jack White be gearing up to pull a Beyonce?
Although White stayed mum all of 2013 on the subject of a follow-up solo album to 2012's Blunderbuss, Consequence of Sound caught the musician admitting to some major things during a low-key chat session with fans.
During the exchange in response to a question he wrote:
"i'm producing two albums this month, and finishing them.
“one of them is mine.”
If his comments are indeed true, it would mean that Jack has been stealth recording lots o' solo stuff on the side in addition to his work with the Dead Weather, which he announced back in October.
According to Third Man Records, the band, featuring vocalist Alison Mosshart, Queens of the Stone Age's Dean Fertita and the Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence in addition to White, will "record and release two-song sets" until 2015.
But as we pointed out at the time of the statement, Jack White is one prolific songwriter and a few singles from the Weather a year doesn't really jive with his obsessive work ethic.
So, it does make sense that there was (much, much) more in the works during 2013.
And the release of a new solo album couldn't come at a better time seeing as most of White's recent press has been about his increasingly contentious and messy divorce as opposed to his actual music.
Let's just hope that Miguel finally gets his wish and the two get down in the studio on this one.
We can't even imagine what that would sound like—but knowing Jack White, it would be completely badass.
