Jay Z Stops New York Concert to Shout Out Bjork
We knew Jay Z had excellent taste (dude married Beyonce, after all), but who knew Shawn Carter was a Bjork stan?
During Hova's Sunday night concert in Uniondale, NY, the Magna Carta rapper stopped his show to shout out a surprise guest in the audience that night: Bjork. Asking the crowd to make some noise for the Icelandic icon, Jay even played a snippet of "Pagan Poetry"—one of the eerie highlights from her 2001 album Vespertine—during his set.
While this seems totally bananas at first, keep in mind the Timbaland connection. The eclectic producer is not only one of the best weapons in Jay's arsenal, but he also worked with Bjork on her 2007 record Volta. So for all we know, these two have been hanging out and playing Scrabble together for years.
Suggestion for Bjork: If Jay ever checks out your live show, please return the favor. Because there's nothing I'd rather hear in this world than you singing the hook on "Empire State of Mind."
