2 Chainz and French Montana Debut New Outlaw Anthem "A-Rod"
Last night at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, 2 Chainz debuted a new track with French Montana called “A-Rod.” As you'd expect, it's an ode to New York Yankees’ third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who is suspended for all of the 2014 season after reportedly purchasing steroids from a shady Miami drug dealer.
You can see where a rapper might connect to that story, though it’s no surprise that it took someone with 2 Chainz’s sense of humor to draw it out. “I’m smoking on that strong, that’s a steroid,” he raps. “They tried to kick me out like A-Rod.”
The track, produced by Chicago’s Young Chop, is likely slated for 2 Chainz’s B.O.A.T.S. III, a forthcoming release that's the follow-up to last September's B.O.A.T.S II: Me Time. B.O.A.T.S. is an acronym that stands for “Based on a T.R.U. Story” (acronyms on acronyms), and it’s a title that’s never been more apt than with “A-Rod.”
