A$AP Rocky Teams With 'Yeezus' Producer Gesaffelstein on Bracing "In Distress"
The soundtrack for the upcoming sci-fil film Divergent (out March 21) is surprisingly interesting, featuring a number of left-field collaborations like Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala. Another is the combination of A$AP Rocky and French techno producer Gesaffelstein, who picked up production credits on Kanye West's "Black Skinhead" and "Send It Up." These two team up on the bracing "In Distress," which dropped today.
Rocky has a short history of working with dance producers—his single "Wild For the Night," a re-work of a Skrillex remix of Birdy Nam Nam, predicted the convergence of rap and EDM. "In Distress" is a similarly happy marriage, with Rocky flowing smoothly over Gesaffelstein's acid textures. If it sounds like a Yeezus outtake, that's because it might very well be.
After riding the wave of his debut album for much of 2013, Rocky has been on two new songs this week alone, including "Californication," an awesome bonus track off ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron.
