Fall Out Boy Quench Demand for Retired Game With "Fall Out Bird" App
Fall Out Boy are good to their fans. They do things like play the official Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, go on tour with Paramore and quickly create bird-themed phone games to satisfy feverish desires from their dearly devoted fan base.
If you're unfamiliar, here's the story of "Flappy Bird." Indie gamemaker Dong Nguyen decided to make an impossible-to-win game featuring robotic birds who fly through Super Mario-like green tubes.
It was ever so popular, but one day Nguyen decided he couldn't take the daily grind of being a viral app owner. "I cannot take this anymore!" he proclaimed via Twitter. "Press people are overrating the success of my games." And with an, "It is something I never want" and a, "Please give me peace," he euthanized poor Flappy Bird.
Not long after, smartphones with the Flappy Bird app installed started appearing on eBay for unfathomable amounts. Like, between $3,000 and $5,000 unfathomable.
