Fall Out Boy Releasing New Flappy Bird Game
Last month we reported that pop-punk heroes Fall Out Boy created a mobile app for their fans called "Fall Out Bird," an homage to the massively popular and recently defunct "Flappy Bird." It must have been pretty successful because the boys are back at it, this time with Fall Out Bird 2.0.
The band announced the updated game on Facebook late last night: "Fall Out Bird 2.0 coming soon with new gameplay, new hazards + much more! Look out for it on iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Amazon App Store. Get your flappy on."
The game offers a new "storm" mode (seen above) and microphones instead of guitar obstacles.
For those unfamiliar with the original Flappy Bird game: it was created by Vietnamese game designer Dong Nguyen in Spring of last year. The game was free, impossible to win, and highly addictive. Less than a year after launching, the game was downloaded more than 50 million times, topping the charts in more than 100 countries. Nguyen felt overwhelmed and took the game down, leaving Fall Out Boy to pick up the pieces with their fan-made app. Today, however, Nguyen tweeted that his version of the game will eventually return.
While Fall Out Boy 2.0 doesn't have an official launch date yet, you can expect it soon.
