The Pet Shop Boys Release Gay Rights Dance Song
The Pet Shop Boys have always been significant figures in gay culture since they came onto the dance music scene in the early '80s.
Fittingly, the British duo have released a new dance track based on a recent gay rights speech made by Panti Bliss, an Irish drag queen, that went viral on YouTube.
Bliss, a longtime and leading gay rights activist, addressed his country’s homophobic views on the Irish channel RTE on January 11. Bliss's "Noble Call at the Abbey Theatre," which garnered more than 500K views, also included messages of support from various celebs such as Madonna. Pet Shop boys frontman Neil Tennant released the track titled "The Best Gay Possible" on their website yesterday. Check out the track below, and Bliss's speech.
