The 2014 Billboard Music Awards announced the finalists for the annual show today and no surprise, the artists shaking up the charts over the last year are feeling the love.
Lorde and Imagine Dragons snagged the most nominations this year, boasting 12 of the 40 award categories. The breakout acts are competing head-to-head in...take a deep breath...Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Streaming Song, Top Rock Song, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Artist.
Believe it or not, JT has never won a Billboard Music Award and, Billboard noted, 2014 could finally be his big year. Keep in mind, though, the BBMAs were not held from 2007 to 2010 - the exact time his 2006 monster-selling album FutureSex/LoveSongs would have probably earned some love.
Song-wise, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Lorde's "Royals" both earned five nominations, with Imagine Dragons and Perry following with four nods for "Radioactive" and "Roar," respectively.
