From Jay Z to Justin Bieber to the 10 million collaborators Pharrell brought out during his set, Coachella 2014 has featured a bevy of surprise guests every bit as A-list as the festival's headlining acts.

Drake added his name to the growing roster of unannounced performers this year, joining R&B singer Jhené Aiko onstage for a run-through of their collabo "From Time."

The moment Aiko started singing the Nothing Was the Same track, the audience knew what was coming next. But that didn't temper the crowd's excitement when Drizzy hit the stage. After all, Drake usually plays venues four times the size of the Gobi tent at Coachella—it's not often you get to watch Drizzy dropping a verse without the aid of a JumboTron screen. Earlier during Aiko's assured, impressive set, Childish Gambino joined her to perform "Bed Peace," their John & Yoko-referencing collaboration from her 2013 EP.

The scene backstage was similarly star-studded: Chance the Rapper watched Aiko's set from the VIP area, while Rihanna hung around waiting for Drake. Speaking of reunited exes, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were spotted backstage together, because if you're trying to smooth things over with an old flame, a Jhene Aiko concert is a great place to start.
