With the entire planet anticipating the 2014 FIFA World Cup kick off in Brazil, the global event had to snag some the planet's biggest stars for its official song. Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Brazilian pop star/The Voice Brasil coach Claudia Leitte have delivered with the banger "We Are One (Ole Ola)." The trio threw a carnival-themed concert for their World Cup song's video, showing fans from all over the world waving their country's flags amid loads of shimmy and booty shaking from J.Lo and Leitte. It's all spliced with incredible soccer-game clips sure to pump up anyone.
Over stadium cheers and an oh-so-catchy whistle hook, Pitbull opens the track commanding, "Put your flags up in the sky and wave them side to side / Show the world where you're from / Show the world we are one."
The verses switch to a trumpet-laden, bouncy pop beat where J.Lo captures the spirit of the cup with the line, "One night which the world unites / Two sides, one fight and a million eyes." Leitte handles the bridge in Portuguese as a nod to the World Cup's home country this year.
Similar to Shakira's official 2010 World Cup Song "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," "We Are One" blends the feel of the tournament's hosting country with an accessible, exciting pop sound that has instant repeat appeal. With over 600 million views, "Waka Waka" is one of the most viewed videos on YouTube ever... do we have another global smash on our hands?
"We Are One" is the official song of the 2014 World Cup while Santana and Wyclef Jean have been tapped for the tourney's official anthem, the soon-to-be-revealed "Dar um Jeito (We Will Find a Way)." A seventeen-track compilation with the aforementioned tracks, One Love, One Rhythm - The 2014 FIFA World Cup Official Album, will be released drops May 13.
