EMI Latin

Twenty-one years ago today, Latin superstar Selena was murdered by an obsessive fan in a hotel room in her native Corpus Christi, TX. She was 23 years old.

The singer was on the cusp of superstardom. She'd recently recorded her first English language album, Dreaming of You, which led Selena to become the first Latin female to score a No. 1 album and the first Tejano singer to win a GRAMMY. She already had a series of No. 1 U.S. Latin hits including "Amor Prohibido," "Como La Flor," "No Me Queda Más," and of course, "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom."

Her legacy is hardly forgotten. The city of Corpus Christi erected a monument in her honor. A few years ago she was featured on a U.S. postage stamp and was named the Top Latin Artist of the '90s by Billboard. Who could forget the 1997 film Selena starring the then-unknown Jennifer Lopez?

In honor of the irreplaceable pop star, we've curated a playlist of some of her biggest hits. Listen below.

Selena, we'll always be dreaming of you.
