Simon Cowell Creating DJ Version of 'American Idol'

'Ultimate DJ' seeks to discover that next Avicii

Get ready for American Idol for DJs. 

The BBC reports that Simon Cowell and his production company, Syco Entertainment, are developing a new talent search called Ultimate DJ alongside EDM powerhouse promoter, SFX Entertainment. The Star Search style competition will launch initially online and feature "producer challenges" and allow contestants to submit their dope beats and cuts via social media.

"We have been developing this concept for awhile," the American Idol/X Factor judge said about the new series. "Our partnership with SFX has been a real game-changer for this format. It made complete sense for us to collaborate with SFX with their access to the best up-and-coming DJs and their great marketing platform to build new DJ talent."

No details yet about how DJs will advance, where it will broadcast or even what the top prize is. But let us just go ahead and put it out there: Diplo should be the Ultimate DJ Ryan Seacrest.
