'SLC Punk 2' Starts Shooting in June, Cast Includes MGK & Screeching Weasel
Fourteen years after SLC Punk! introduced the world to Stevo, Heroin Bob and Sean the Beggar, the beloved cult classic is getting a sequel. SLC Punk 2: Punk's Dead will begin filming next month with the original movie's writer-director, James Merendino, at the helm. Last fall, he announced a sequel to the 1998 film following a successful crowdfunding campaign.
Alternative Press confirmed that Devon Sawa (Sean), Adam Pascal (Eddie), and Jimmy Duval (John the Mod) will return to Salt Lake City for the flick, while Annabeth Gish (Trish) and Til Schweiger (Mark) are rumored to be involved. Neither Jason Segel or Matthew Lillard are attached to the project, but the filmmakers did tease "two surprise cameos."
Rapper Machine Gun Kelly revealed via Instagram that he will be in the film playing the role of "Crash." Other additions include Ben Schnetzer (Ross), Sarah Clarke, Hannah Marks (Penny) and Jenny Jaffe (Shelly).
Punk heroes Screeching Weasel and Dwarves are set to perform at the movie's culminating concert scene, which will film June 20 in SLC. Get ready!
