Watch The Roots' Crazy New Stop Motion Video for "Understand"
A self-playing organ, a twisting, contorting clay face on a stick, a fridge full of books and a stack of change and dollar bills that folds itself into a tiny figure and takes a ride: these are the characters at play in "Understand," the latest stop motion production and music video from The Roots.
It looks like the beloved Philly hip-hop royals are making stop motion a thing this record cycle, because "Understand" is the second track off ... And Then You Shoot Your Cousin to get this wildly creative treatment, following up "When The People Cheer."
... And Then You Shoot Your Cousin has been on everyone's minds since early 2013, when the album was announced and later when Questlove was discussing his memoir and letting details about the record slip. They've conquered 30 Rock as The Tonight Show's house band, and now it's rad to see The Roots head into the animation studio to try a new look on for size. ... And Then You Shoot Your Cousin will see its release on May 19, so in the meantime, throw "Understand," both for its rad beats and totally stunning visuals.
