This Death Metal Band Is Going to Shred in a Box Until They Run Out of Oxygen
Well, this brings a whole new meaning to death metal: UK quintet Unfathomable Ruination will play in a box until they run out of oxygen and pass out. It's all part of a touring art installation called 'Box Sized DIE' by Portuguese artist Joao Onofre. No, seriously.
According to the installation's description, bands play in a cramped, airtight, soundproofed box until they can't anymore. "The box is soundproofed, determining and restricting the performance’s duration to the length of time in which the oxygen is expended," it adds. "Outside the cube, viewers observe its strange vibrations, only viewing the band’s entrance and exit to the performance space."
The band commented on the performance on Facebook, writing, "According to the medical professionals...we're all going to die...Challenge Accepted." At press time, 194 of their 10,682 followers 'liked' the comment. \m/
Because you won't actually be able to hear their brand of near-death metal, listen below to the song "Idiosyncratic Chaos" (off the band's 2014 EP of the same name) to hear what you're missing.
