Nicki Minaj Delivers Shady Speech, Reveals Near-Death Experience at BET Awards
Nicki Minaj got a few things off her chest at last night's BET Awards. After winning Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at Sunday's show, the MC threw shade at her contemporaries and detailed a near-death experience.
While accepting her award, Nicki called out rappers for not writing their rhymes. "What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," she told the crowd, erupting into cheers.
Some have speculated the (insecure?) dig was at fellow female rapper Iggy Azalea, who recently became the first female rapper in years to have a No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100—a feat Nicki hasn't accomplished yet. Minaj added, "No, no, no shade" after the line, but we're still curious who she's referring to, especially since Iggy has writing credits on every track on The New Classic.
