André 3000 may be pretty busy with his Outkast touring schedule at the moment, but his turn as Jimi Hendrix in the hugely anticipated biopic chronicling the late guitar god's career beginnings is on the horizon--and the trailer is pretty rad.

Jimi: All Is By My Side follows Hendrix in 1966, before he was lighting his ax aflame and making fans weak in the knees with his decade-defining riffs. André looks, sounds and shreds like Hendrix to the point where it's kind of creepy, as the ATLien truly nails every mannerism and performative trait. Before "Purple Haze," "Foxy Lady" and the rest of the Hendrix Experience unfurled in rock 'n' roll history, Hendrix was hanging out in swinging London and trying to get his career going. Jimi: All Is By My Side follows the calm before the storm that would eventually catapult him to icon status, and the trailer above frames it all in a glorious retro package.
