Zach Braff might be the saddest person on Earth. If he isn't, he's easily the most sentimental, crafting movies around songs by The Shins a la Garden State and tapping tons of indie talent to provide the music for his next project. Wish I Was Here is out in theaters July 18, and since the release of the soundtrack yesterday, we can't stop hitting repeat on the title track featuring Cat Power and Coldplay. Yup, get those tissues!
It's just as miserable and magical as you'd hope, with Cat Power's soft croon guiding the song and Chris Martin offering up a foundation of pop piano and supportive vocals. (This track is apparently Braff's favorite of the Wish I Was Here lot, too.) Again—prepare for the waterworks.
