The original Disney Channel princess is officially back! After a seven-year break from music, Hilary Duff returns to the pop scene with a feel-good new single that you need to add to your summer playlist right away.

"Chasing the Sun" opens with bouncy guitar strums and light percussion, backing the singer/actress' happiness mantras. "I realize that more means less / If I got love than I am blessed," Hil coos in her youthful, airy delivery. It's not the vocal performance of a lifetime, but it is that same peppy singer so many kids fell in love with hearing on TV everyday in the early '00s.

The light-hearted delivery, simple production and sunny theme recall the work of Sheryl Crow (namely, "Soak Up the Sun") and "Bubbly" singer Colbie Caillat—in fact, the latter singer co-wrote the peppy tune.

"'Chasing the Sun' is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree," Duff said of her comeback track. It's the first taste we're getting of her upcoming album that includes a track penned by Ed Sheeran
