Despite the fact that Iggy Azalea has made her fondness for Clueless known courtesy of her "Fancy" video and its homage to the '90s cult classic, Azalea isn't the pop star who's hoping to head to Broadway as Clueless: The Musical's first singing, time-stepping Cher Horowitz.
That would be Katy Perry. According to Amy Heckerling, Clueless' director, a musical adaptation of the movie is in the works, and Perry has let it slip that she'd love to try the role (and its fantastic wardrobe) on for size. "Katy Perry has expressed interest, and I love her to death,” Heckerling told Vulture. The book and the lyrics for Clueless are done, but the musical is still in the "really, really, early, early" stages, so who knows: Perry may prove to be too busy, and Azalea could catch Heckerling's eye after all. "Maybe Iggy wants to do it!"
She was certainly impressed with "Fancy" and its frame-by-frame commitment to Cher's world: “It looked like they had more money for the video than I had for the movie ... But I was extremely flattered and I thought she was amazing. And whoever did the costumes, I don’t know how they did that.”
