Usher & Nicki Minaj Bring the Funk for "She Came to Give It to You"
Upon the release of his percussion-heavy new single "Good Kisser," Usher declared that "real music is taking a stand. Artists are going after real instrumentation as opposed to electronic, synthesized music." And his funky new track with Nicki Minaj is a true testament to that.
"She Came to Give It to You" is a Bee Gees-esque, disco stomper centered around a walking bass line, slick percussion, funk-guitar licks and a repetitive, underlying hook courtesy of Usher's silky falsetto. With huge hits like "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky," Pharrell's been hitting throwback gold with this new track warranting another jewel in his hitmaker crown.
While Nicki's the go-to MC for a sick verse over a banging hip-hop or pop beat, it's fun to hear her Minajesty spit over a disco beat for a change. Listen up for the brilliant simile, "He only last six seconds like a Vine."
