Earlier this year, Gwar frontman Dave Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, died of a heroin overdose at the age of 50.

His passing was a major blow to the heavy metal community at large, and no one felt it as deeply as his bandmates. To celebrate his legacy, the dudes (or monsters?) of Gwar decided to push forward with their annual GWAR-B-Q plans, adding a few special events. They opened the restaurant Urungus always dreamed of and they memorialized the musician with a traditional viking funeral. Seriously!

At Hadad's Lake in Richmond, Virginia this weekend, Brockie's stage costume was lit (via flaming arrow) in following Nordic tradition and set to sea ... or in this case, river?
