Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer are on the rise, and you might even go so far as to say they're the biggest rock group of the year. The boys have much to owe to One Direction, who they're currently on the road with, but sometimes playing in front of tens of thousands of teen girls has its downfalls, and it does a number on your hearing at the very least!

While boy band shows are probably the funnest places on earth, they're also the loudest, and it's taking a toll on 5SOS guitarist Michael Clifford. The colorful haired heartthrob told Billboard, "I went to a hearing check-up, and I’ve actually lost high-pitched…noises in my right ear. I think they’re lowered or something." Vocalist Calum Hood agreed, high-fiving over their shared ear ailments. Eeeep!

Maybe the band's next quirky merch item should be earplugs!
