UPDATE (11/13): It turns out that Taylor/Meghan duet of our dreams is going to stay a figment of our imagination for the time being. Macy's confirmed that Taylor Swift will not be performing at the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and that her contribution to the Thanksgiving Day Special will be a pre-recorded performance.

Original Story: It's no shocker that two of the charts' reigning pop princesses—Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor—have been invited to perform at the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. While they've both got their own hits to champion, could we be looking at an epic duet between the "All About That Bass" singer and the performer who's made the most successful record of 2014?

It had been previously announced that Trainor would be taking part in the Thanksgiving tradition, while news of Swift's involvement broke this afternoon. The two have only recently traded spots atop the Billboard Hot 100 with their respective smashes (Swift with "Shake It Off" at No. 1 this week; Trainor with her infectious body-positive anthem at No. 2), but one pop powerhouse has covered the single of the other, and we're hoping that's a bit of foreshadowing that'll play out on Turkey Day.

Trainor's one of the many who's tried their hand at "Shake It Off," and though Swift has performed the lead-off single from 1989 a ton already, we'd go nuts (in a good way) if Trainor's ukulele-wielding version somehow works its way into the holiday festivities. We're not holding our breath—the ladies each deserve a spotlight of their own—but we can dream.

Swift and Trainor will be joined by a veritable pop roster on November 27, as Idina Menzel (of Frozen fame), Nick Jonas, Becky G, Lucy Hale and Sting are also scheduled to perform.
