As anticipation continues to boil over Rihanna's upcoming eighth album, the singer is giving us an appetizer to whet our hunger. It's a small appetizer, but when you're starving, every bite's delicious.

Rih posted two snippets of a new song apparently titled "Higher" onto her Instagram account today. Over a violin-and-piano production, she sings in her raspy new style: "This whiskey got me feeling pretty / So pardon if I'm impolite / I just really need your ass with me." Listen to the clips above and below.

Just like her Kayne West/Paul McCartney collaboration "FourFiveSeconds," this new track is yet another sonic departure from the usual pop jams we're used to hearing. We're also hearing a rawer, heartfelt belting style from Rih, who seems to be on a mission to showcase her voice more.

There's no telling when we'll hear the full thing (or when the album is dropping), but no matter when we do, hopefully you can experience "Higher" live on the Rihanna/Kanye tour that's probably/definitely happening later this year. In the meantime, check out everything we know about her new record right here.
