Here's something cool for ya feminist punk heroes out there: Boston mayor Marty Walsh has proclaimed tomorrow, Thursday, April 9 as Riot Grrrl Day in honor of Kathleen Hanna. The legendary frontwoman and political icon will perform at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston’s theater district tomorrow in celebration. 

Boston Magazine reports Hanna will be introduced Joyce Linehan, Walsh's Chief of Policy and longtime friend of the musician.

Linehan told the publication, "[Kathleen’s agent] called me to see if I would introduce Kathleen, probably based on the fact that Kathleen, back in the day, used to stay at my house when bands came through town. We knew each other from the indie rock world.”
