The premiere of the new Nirvana documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck was surely an emotional night for 22-year-old Frances Bean Cobain. But nasty tabloids and paparazzi decided to focus on her looks and skin tone instead of, say, a speech the typically private starlet made about her late father. "He was a human being and I think that's been lost within the romanticism and the myth of him and his story," Frances said. "What this movie will provide, hopefully, is a real understanding of who he was."

Later on Twitter, she called out nasty outlets saying her gothic style hinted at deeper issues:

That led to the likes of Paramore's Hayley Williams offering support that, really, every person should take to heart when it comes to looks:

Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way also chimed in:

So what have we learned today? That we (still!) shouldn't judge someone by how they dress, that Hayley and Gerard are probably just as cool in real life as they are in our heads, and that Frances Bean is (still!) hilarious.

Montage of Heck is playing in select theaters now will air on HBO on May 4. It features previously unheard songs by Cobain including a haunting Beatles cover and lo-fi demo track.
