In 2015 there are many ways to become famous, most of which involve the Internet.  Sixteen-year-old teen dream Shawn Mendes' platform of choice was Vine, where the cutie-patootie covered hits from Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, winning the hearts—and eventually, allowances—of teen girls from coast to coast and beyond. A couple years have passed and Mendes' popularity has grown exponentially, building to the release of his debut full-length, Handwritten, last week.

Today Billboard reports that the album has launched at No. 1, making Mendes the youngest artist to do so since the Biebs did it five years ago.

Justin claimed the title in May 2010 when his record My World 2.0 lasted four weeks at the top. Bieber was 16 years and two months old; Mendes is 16 years and eight months old. Really impressive stuff.
