Salt Lake City dark lords Cult Leader are gearing up for the release of Useless Animal, the three-song follow up to their 2014 acclaimed debut, Nothing for Us Here. The 7" EP opens with two face-rippers: “Useless Animal” and “Gutter Gods.” For the B-Side, Cult Leader join forces with Subrosa members for a cover of “You Are Not My Blood," a track original written and performed by Mark Kozelek and Desertshore. Useless Animal is out June 16 via Deathwish Inc.
Earlier this week, Self Defense Family premiered their video for “Talia,” a song from their forthcoming Heaven Is Earth album. “The video is not so much inspired by but directly ripped off from the Talk Talk ‘It’s My Life’ music video—the best music video in human history,” vocalist Patrick Kindlon told the AV Club about the clip. For the Heaven Is Earth sessions, Self Defense Family teamed up with a diverse group of engineers: Kurt Ballou (God City Studios), Will Killingsworth (Dead Air Studios), Mark Millar (Sone Lab) and Jon Low (Miner Street Recordings).
Pennsylvania kill squad Wisdom in Chains just unleashed "Songs to My Killer," a cut from their soon-to-be released The God Rhythm album. The album marks the debut of drummer Luke Rota (ex-Roger Miret and the Disasters) to the band. The God Rhythm moshes its way to record stores on June 16 courtesy of Fast Break! Records.
Hollow Earth just announced a June tour with Of Feather and Bone. The latest act signed to Good Fight Music, Hollow Earth hails from Detroit and was founded in 2011 by vocalist Steve Muczynski and guitarist Mike Moynihan, both ex-members of Shai Hulud. The band's latest album, Silent Graves, was produced by Andy Nelson (Harm's Way, Weekend Nachos) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Integrity, Nails), and was named "one of metallic hardcore's best offerings this year" in 2014 by Invisible Oranges.
Featuring members of Corrosion of Conformity and My Ruin, Teenage Time Killers is a hardcore punk supergroup worthy of your attention. On July 31, the band will release their debut album, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, and to whet our appetites, they've issued "Barrio" a cut from the record featuring Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba on vocals and Bad Religion's Brian Baker on guitar. The Teenage Time Killers album will also include guest appearances from Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters,) Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) and many more.
