Update (8/6): It's here! You can stream Dr. Dre's first album since 1999 right now via Apple Music

Compton: A Soundtrack—which was nicely timed with the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, hitting theaters on August 14—isn't actually available for purchase until August 7, but you can listen to the majorly anticipated bad boy right now and pre-order the 16-track LP on iTunes

Check out everything else you need to know about the record below.

Original Story (8/3): Dr. Dre's Detox album, hyped since the year 1100 AD, is dead. Over the weekend, the rap mogul—whose dicey history has been reexamined in recent days—spoke on his Beats 1 radio show The Pharmacy:

“This is something you’re not gonna hear many artists say: the reason that Detox didn’t come out was because I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good. The record, it just wasn’t good… I mean seriously, I worked my ass off on it, but I didn’t think I did a good enough job. I couldn’t do that to my fans, I couldn’t do that to myself, to be honest.”

Aftermath/Shady Records

But forget about Detox, because Dr. Dre's new new album is coming this Friday, Aug. 7, via Apple Music. Titled Compton: A Soundtrack, it's got impeccable timing with the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton hitting theaters Aug. 14.

That's the album art to the right, and here's the tracklist:

1. Intro
2. Talk About It (ft. King Mez & Justus)
3. Genocide (ft. Kendrick Lamar, Marsha Ambrosius & Candice Pillay)
4. It’s All On Me (ft. Justus & BJ the Chicago Kid)
5. All In a Day’s Work (ft. Anderson Paak & Marsha Ambrosius)
6. Darkside/Gone (ft. King Mez, Marsha Ambrosius & Kendrick Lamar)
7. Loose Cannons (ft. Xzibit & COLD 187um)

Two appearances from Kendrick on Compton: A Soundtrack should surprise no one. (Nice little follow-up to Dre appearing on K-Dot's good kid, m.A.A.d city closer "Compton," too.) Two from Snoop, though? Delightful. Also can't wait to hear those Marshia Ambrosius spots, and the Jill Scott ones, and whatever newcomer Asia Bryant has for us.

Oh, and Dre says it's his grand finale?
