This weekend we reported a rather concerning story from the Sun over in England: Dan Wooton, the writer behind the first post-One Direction Zayn Malik interview and a slew of other 1D exclusives, reported that the group would embark on indefinite hiatus in March of 2016. The pause would come after the release of their fifth studio album, rumored to be the boys' last. And in the music world, "hiatus" tends to be nice way of saying "breaking up."

Yesterday Niall Horan confirmed that the band would take a vacay, but that it wouldn't be end of One Direction. Thank god! Everything seemed okay...until now, when the Sun published even stranger news. According to them, Sony is attempting to sign Harry Styles for a solo "mega deal."

The paper quotes a Sony insider:

"Harry has always been One Direction’s most popular member and it’s obvious that we want to secure him—he’s a global superstar. Zayn will get to release an album first, as he left the band earlier, but the most excitement is about what Harry is going to do. Everyone wants to know what his solo material will sound like, there’s also a lot of pressure to get it right.”

Do you believe it? RCA did officially sign Zayn Malik at the end of June. Guess we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, peep this gallery documenting the evolution of One Direction.
