As previously reported, Ryan Adams is rerecording Taylor Swift's record-breaking 1989 album in a style that resembles The Smiths. Today, we get the first taste of that record via a super-chill, super-Smith-y rendition of "Bad Blood."

Premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music, Adams' take on "Bad Blood" has replaced the angsty shouts and crunchy beats of the original with melancholy slurring and alt-rock guitar strumming. If your classic-rock-loving dad still hasn't declared himself a Swiftie, here's your secret way to get him into Tay Tay.

What's particularly cool about the cover is how striking the lyrics are, even though "Bad Blood" is arguably one of the worst-written songs on 1989—which isn't a terrible thing at all; Taylor's lyrics are always ace.

Take a listen to Ryan's "Bad Blood" above and if you're salivating for more, check out clips of his other 1989 songs right here that include snippets of "Blank Space," "Style," "All You Had to Do Was Stay" and "Out of the Woods."
