Love 5 Seconds of Summer? Here Are 14 Songs You'll Love Too

From current collaborators Good Charlotte and All Time Low to iconic inspirations Blink-182 and The Police, here are a handful of tunes you have to hear if you're a 5SOS fan

1 / 14

Scouting for Girls, "She's So Lovely"

Scouting For Girls were the bee's knees in the U.K., but never really made a dent in the U.S. No matter: It's pretty obvious the 5SOS boys learned a lot from the group's knack for melody. Check out "She's So Lovely."

Good Charlotte, "The Anthem"

Any real fan of 5 Seconds of Summer knows that Good Charlotte played a key role in their development. Twin masterminds Benji and Joel Madden have written a bunch of songs for the guys (they're responsible for "Amnesia," "She's Kinda Hot" and others), but also inspired the band from the very beginning: GC were Luke Hemmings' first concert! If you're unfamiliar with the group, "The Anthem" is the perfect place to start.

3 / 14

Green Day, "Holiday"

This Green Day classic was the first song Luke Hemmings and drummer Ashton Irwin learned to play, and it's definitely one that's felt throughout the entirety of 5SOS' discography.

4 / 14

My Chemical Romance, "Teenagers"

This My Chemical Romance song might sound sort of like "She's Kinda Hot" to you, and that's because both flirt with a guitar pattern called the 12 bar blues. It's used a lot in country music but in both songs, it's instituted in an inventive, pop-punk way. We can dig it!

5 / 14

Sum-41, "Fat Lip"

Sum-41 can be viewed as the Blink-182 of Canada... and they had just as much impact on 5SOS. "Fat Lip" is the perfect tune to make you fall in love. It's delinquent, not dangerous.

6 / 14

Dashboard Confessional, "Stolen"

Dashboard Confessional specialized in stripped-down emo ballads, dealing with the world's two greatest emotions: Love and lust. "Stolen" is DC at his most epic--there's a certain darkness here that reminds of Michael Clifford.

7 / 14

The Used, "I Caught Fire"

There's a song on Sounds Good Feels Good called "Catch Fire." The Used are one of Calum Hood's favorite bands. You do the math!

8 / 14

Blink-182, "I Miss You"

Calum Hood's first CD single ever was Blink-182's "I Miss You." Not only does the darker Blink tune play into some of the later tracks in Sounds Good Feels Good, the song reflects the era of the band 5SOS grew up on. It's not the dick jokes of Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket that resonate with them the most, it's the serious self-titled record.

9 / 14

Mayday Parade, "Jersey"

The one thing Mayday Parade does really well is marry a certain aggro-punk sound with incredible harmonies. The band is lucky enough to have multiple folks who sing well, just like 5SOS.

10 / 14

Jet, "Are You Gonna Be My Girl"

It's not all pop-punk here, gang! Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" used to act as 5SOS' entrance music (it's in the same key as their debut album's "18"), but truly represents the guy's AC/DC-like energy and powerful Aussie pride.

11 / 14

All Time Low, "Weightless"

All Time Low are 5SOS' BFFs, mostly because of dual frontman Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat. The guys share in ATL's sense of humor but also their undeniable ability to write soaring palm-muted power chords. So much of their discography is made up of absolute bangers, but we find ourselves going back to "Weightless" the most.

12 / 14

The Police, "Invisible Sun"

The men behind Sounds Good Feels Good think "Waste the Night" from the album sounds like The Police's "Invisible Sun," and we're inclined to believe them.

13 / 14

This Providence, "My Beautiful Rescue"

Earlier this month, Calum Hood shared a Spotify playlist that featured this jam by This Providence. "My Beautiful Rescue" plays to the group's sweeter side, and we can hear it in some of 5SOS's ballads.

14 / 14

Paramore, "Misery Business"

Truly, where would 5SOS be without Paramore? Scratch that, where would we all be without Paramore? "Misery Business" is the tune that helped put the band on the map, and we're sure it's one the Aussie dudes listen to all the time.
