As Lamar Odom continues to battle back from the brink of death, his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, has given a new interview in which she says that she'll always support her former husband, even if it's not in a romantic context.

"I loved him always, and I will always love him," Kardashian says in a new People cover story. "I don't believe love is fickle. I believe when you love someone, you are allowed to love from afar. You don't have to be with that person in order to love him."

Although Kardashian halted her divorce to Odom in court as he continued to fight back from being in a coma, the 31-year-old says that she is not getting back together with the former NBA star. "There are too many other important things, too many medical things," she says. "It's not even in our brains thinking about us as a couple or having a relationship right now."

Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13, and was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital, where he slowly made progress. "The fact that he woke up was definitely a sigh of relief for everybody," Kardashian says. "Every hour is different. It goes up and it goes down but he's awake. He's alive and that's all I wanted, was for him to be okay."

The full People interview arrives on newsstands this Friday (Oct. 30). In the meantime, check out Khloe's letter to friends, family and fans, thanking them for their prayers and well-wishes during Odom's hospitalization.
