The Weeknd and Taylor Swift made their friendship public when the 1989 star brought him out onstage for a live duet of "Can't Feel My Face" at a show in New Jersey this summer. Now, in in a strange set of anecdotes from his new Rolling Stone cover story, the R&B star recounts the curious beginnings of their bond.

According to the singer, Tay spent 15 minutes revealing her love for the Weeknd's music in their first meeting. She showed particular love for "The Morning," a cut off his 2011 mixtape House of Balloons, saying she had been listening to it "for years" and that it's one of her "favorite songs ever."

The Weeknd also revealed a curious tidbit about how Taylor first welcomed him and his tower of braids, telling the mag:

"But the whole time she was talking, she was kind of, like, petting my hair? I think she was just drawn to it—she must have been a little gone off a few drinks. And of course I'm not going to be like, 'Hey, can you stop?' I mean, it felt good! But when she started petting my hair, that’s when I was like, 'I definitely need a drink.'"

Aww, we bet Taylor is also that friend that gives her BFFs back rubs when they're stressed, making it that much more enviable to be part of the Swiftie squad. Check out 13 more of these lucky gal pals right here.
