Weezer has kicked off its next album era with "Thank God for Girls," a female-celebrating new single released on Sunday night (Oct. 25).

The pseudo-lyric video for the new single features a girl feeding a guy a bunch of cannolis, taking its cue from the line "She will be there, waiting for you/With fire in her eyes/And a big fat cannoli to shove in your mouth." "Thank God for Girls" finds Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo rap-singing with dexterity in the verses before the lumbering chorus wallops the listener.

Weezer performed "Thank God for Girls" last week during a show in Burbank, Calif., and now that the official single is out, Cuomo is gushing about it in a Facebook post. "It's a perfect mix of weezer past and future," he wrote on Sunday night. "The chorus soars on melodic wings. It rocks sooooo hard. I can't really compare it to anything specific we’ve ever done. But I can't wait for more!"

"Thank God for Girls" will presumably lead Weezer's next studio album, which would be the alt-rock group's 10th overall. Cuomo and co. released Everything Will Be Alright in the End last October.
