At last night's American Music AwardsJustin Bieber donned a t-shirt that paid homage to Nirvana's 1993 single "Heart-Shaped Box." Fans of the '90s grunge band were apparently not having it (because, ya know, Bieber makes pop music and Nirvana was *real* music), as loads of negative Twitter users slammed his shirt choice.

A shining ray of positivity and probably the most (only?) important voice to add to the heated topic was Courtney Love, who defended the "Sorry" singer's wardrobe. Mama Court showed love to the 21-year-old, assuring him that he's actually really cool:

There you have it, folks. Debate over.

Nevertheless, Bieber is probably too successful right now to be dragged down by the fashion police, as the dude is celebrating the biggest first-week album sales of 2015 so far and nailing his performance to close the 2015 AMAs.
