Great news in the hip hop world: Boosie BadAzz, formerly known as Lil Boosie, has declared that he is cancer-free.

Two weeks after the 33-year-old Louisiana rapper posted on Instagram that he had kidney cancer and that he needed prayers, Boosie is now thanking fans for those prayers, and reporting that he is a cancer survivor following successful surgery.

"I want to thank each and everyone for all the support and love!" he wrote. "Surgery went well..God is good! Next step recovery! Cancer has been removed from Boosie kidney... Thanks to all Boosie family and friends and all my real Boosie fans for all the prayers from #badazzmusicsyndicate... I am a #cancersurvivor"

After spending five years in jail and being released last year, Boosie dropped a comeback album, Touch Down 2 Hell, in May. He is a father of seven and has been speaking openly about his diabetes throughout his career.
