On Monday night (Dec. 7), Slipknot/Stone Sour leader Corey Taylor joined the many rock musicians to honor the late Scott Weiland, appearing onstage at the Roxy in Hollywood to perform Stone Temple Pilots’ “Sex Type Thing” with rock supergroup the Royal Machines.
The Royal Machines (which includes Dave Navarro, Donovan Leitch, Chris Chaney and others) supported Taylor, who rocked a Ramones tee and spent most of the performance gripping the mic with his eyes closed. Taylor also joined the band for a cover of the Cult’s “Love Removal Machine.”
Blabbermouth points out that Taylor had been highly critical of Weiland prior to his untimely Dec. 3 death. In 2011, the Slipknot leader called Weiland a “lazy piece of shit” following the release of a holiday standards album from the Stone Temple Pilots singer.
Coincidentally, “Sex Type Thing” is perhaps Weiland’s most powerful song as the STP frontman—click here to read why.
