Lupe Fiasco's fifth album, Tetsuo & Youth, released in January 2015 to huge acclaim after looking like it might get Carter V'd into infinity and never drop. After steady delays from Atlantic Records, hacker collective Anonymous "threatened to attack Atlantic Records if it didn't release the album," Mic writes. "With 24 hours, the label caved and set a date, and the people won."
Looks like Lupe's sailing smoother seas now, announcing that he's got three albums coming in 2016. Check it out:
Attention Lupe Fans: 3 full album releases in 2016. 🙏🏾 #Drogas is up first. Not taking any questions at this time. Thank you.— Lupe Fiasco (@LupeFiasco) December 20, 2015
So that "not taking any questions at this time" bit seals the deal that we won't know any more till Fiasco gives us more. He's definitely on a hot streak right now, having released the Pharaoh Height 2/30 mixtape in August, seven months after Tetsuo & Youth.
For now, vibe out to Lupe's vintage performance of "Around My Way" live at Fuse:
