American Idol kicked off its final season last night, and one person was not happy with the way it went down: Season 2 star Clay Aiken!

The 2003 runner-up fired out a string of critical tweets after claiming that he was watching the show "for the first time in a decade." He particularly wasn't fond of the current judges: Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.

"Oh good Lord... those boring ass responses from the judges!? Where is Simon when you need him!? That guy need a hook to pull him off stage," Aiken wrote. The singer and former Congressional candidate is referring to Simon Cowell, who was a judge alongside Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul during his respective run.

The 37-year-old later backtracked a little bit, explaining the critiques with, "We're all more critical of the things we care about most." Check out his full string of tweets below:
