AUSTIN, TX - APRIL 24: Musician/vocalist Ezra Koenig (L) and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend perform in concert at Stubb

Last month Rostam Batmanglij announced that he would no longer be a part of Vampire Weekend. Ezra Koenig's multi-instrumentalist co-writer left the band on good terms, promising to work together on other future projects, but many were left curious of what his next musical endeavor would be. The answer, of course, was found on Twitter:

It appears that Rostam has already found another collaborative partner, at least for one track, in Ra Ra Riot frontman Wes Miles. The song "I Need Your Light" is a great listen, with the churning drums and angelic synth sounds that drew so many to Vampire Weekend. It sounds... well it sounds like Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot worked together on a song.

Rostam had recently worked with Ra Ra Riot, helping direct the video for their song "Water" released last December. While there's still no firm knowledge on what Rostam's future plans are, if he just decided to scroll through the contacts in his iPhone and collaborate with people he's worked with sparingly in the past, chances are we'd get more good music like this.

You can stream "I Need Your Light" and the rest of Ra Ra Riot's latest release Need Your Light below through Spotify.
