Hallelujah, y'all. First Ghostbusters gets remade with an all-female cast and now the Fast and Furious franchise is getting in on the progressive action. Apparently the next installment of the series, Fast 8, will feature a main female villain for, you know, only the first time ever.

According the DeadlineMad Max: Fury Road actress Charlize Theron is the frontrunner for the role. Director F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, Friday) and Theron have worked together before, on The Italian Job back in 2003. So we say: do it, guys!

Fast 9 and 10 were announced last week, dated for April 2019 and April 2021, the second and third parts of a new trilogy that 8 will start. So maybe the role Theron role extends past one film.

While we've got you, make sure to peep this year's Oscar nominations. You might see a familiar face.
