Vice President Joe Biden will introduce Lady Gaga's performance at the 88th Academy Awards this evening in Los Angeles. He'll be attending the ceremony to promote awareness of sexual assault as part of the White House's It's On Us campaign—a program tasked with combating rape culture in the United States.

Gaga will be performing "Til it Happens to You," a song featured prominently in the documentary The Hunting Ground, which centers on the scourge of sexual assaults in American universities. "Til it Happens to You" is nominated for Best Original Song.

Biden has long been a proponent of speaking out against sexual assault in the United States, and authored prominent legislation—such as the Violence Against Women Act—as a senator in 1994. On behalf of the the White House, It's On Us has teamed with celebrities and artists like Jon Hamm, Kerry Washington, Questlove and Common for various PSAs.
