After rumors that Lauryn Hill would join the Weeknd at the GRAMMY Awards proved to be untrue, the R&B legend was Abel Tesfaye's surprise guest on Friday night's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch the performance of "In The Night" above.

The reclusive Hill was expected to perform "In The Night" with the Weeknd during his GRAMMY medley of "Can't Feel My Face" and "In The Night," but later denied that she was attached to the awards ceremony. She came out midway through the Weeknd's performance on Fallon, where the pair was backed by the Roots.

The Weeknd was nominated for album of the year at the GRAMMYs for Beauty Behind The Madness. Next weekend he'll perform at the Oscars, where "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" is nominated for best original song from a motion picture.
