Have you been missing Sam Smith? Us too. We're hungry for a new record, and it looks like we might get one soon...the English singer/songwriter has been popping up here and there in recent history. We loved his "Writing's on the Wall," the theme for the last James Bond movie Spectre, and the signer brought it to life at the 2016 Oscars.

Smith's performance was characteristically Smith: soulful, slow and brooding. Dressed in a snazzy tux, the Brit rocked the stage with just himself and a mic. Smith appeared (understandably) nervous for such a big performance, rocking back and forth and looking around the stage, but mostly nailed every belt and falsetto note.

"Writing's on the Wall" is nominated for Best Original Song at the 2016 Oscars. The song won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song earlier this year too.

This year's Oscars if full of important race commentary, mostly courtesy of host Chris Rock. Check out our list of the 12 people of color who should've been nominated for Oscars at this year's show.
