Christian Anwander for FLAUNT

Big Sean and Jhené Aiko have created great music together in the past, and now they are making the duo official with their upcoming project, Twenty88. The artists, who surprised everyone with the news over the weekend, have shared details of the album's birth and what fans can expect with Flaunt magazine.

Aiko explains:

“Music now doesn’t really cater to the feelings of a real relationship. It’s all about trapping and bragging. I feel like this project is something that’s needed right now. The whole idea of the man and woman duet. Especially a whole project, is just good for people to see. That duality is a perfect combination.”

While she and Sean Don come from different worlds (Aiko does ethereal and raw R&B, while he is a firestorm of a rapper), their chemistry is remarkable—as seen with 2013's "Beware" and last year's Dark Sky Paradise track "I Know." (You saw the music video where they play lovey-dovey old-timers, right?) For Twenty88, they plan on fusing '90s R&B and ’70s experimental rock/soul. “Some of these verses on here are for sure about specific people and times," Sean said.

They highlight a few tracks in the interview: "On the Way," which Sean describes as a story about meeting up with a special person; "Talk Show," about cheating lovers; and "Two-Minute Warning," which features—get this—K-Ci and JoJo.
