BJ the Chicago Kid's "The New Cupid" video kicks off like a silent film, informing us us via title card that "after centuries of spreading love, Cupid has finally called it quits!" From there it moves straight to beautiful modern filmmaking to give us the 31-year-old Chi-Town singer singing to the camera in a neighborhood where a messy, James Brown–ish Hannibal Buress—the eponymous new Cupid—wreaks love-havoc.

BJ ends up doing his delicious ballad in a garage jam session. At the 2:50 mark, he hits an empty venue to hear Kendrick Lamar's remarkable guest verse. Watch closely and you'll also see Raphael Saadiq and Mila J.

BJ the Chicago Kid's debut studio album, In My Mind, dropped last month. It features Big K.R.I.T. and Chance the Rapper, plus production from DJ Khalil and Da Internz.
