Bad news for all the ladies out there who wanted to audition for a gender-bending part in Hamilton: the musical is apparently not looking for females to be casted for male roles.

The mix-up occurred yesterday morning, when a casting call stated they were looking for men and women of all ethnicities to fill the roles of Aaron Burr and George Washington. But a few hours later, the audition (which was to be held in Philadelphia) was changed to reflect men only.

Speaking to Buzzfeed News, casting director Bethany Knox cleared up the confusion:

“We are so excited to find unique and outstanding people for all roles in HAMILTON all around America but unfortunately, this is NOT our casting breakdown and does not reflect our current casting criteria."

Back in November, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda said he would be "totally open to women playing founding fathers." So gender-bending roles in the musical could still be a future possibility.
